Fireworks Holden Beach, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach
“Where is the best place to watch July 4th fireworks at Holden Beach” is the big question this time of year in our part of the world. The town of Holden Beach does not have an official fireworks show and fireworks are illegal in the state of North Carolina unless you have a permit. The same is true of Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach.
But, back to the original question. Where can you see fireworks if you are vacationing at Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach or Sunset Beach? The answer is “everywhere you look.” Several communities along the mainland side of the intracoastal waterway have unofficial fireworks shows each year. There are usually a few fireworks set off from boats in the waterway on July 4th. And there are always a few fireworks shows on the island itself. Again, none of these are sanctioned events and yes, they are illegal.
If you are one the west end of Holden Beach or the East End of Ocean Isle Beach on July 4th, look toward the Shallotte River and you will no doubt see a great show.
If you want to enjoy dinner out and see the fireworks, Inlet View would be a good choice. They have spacious decks and about a 270 degree view. You may have a hard time deciding which direction to look, but you will no doubt see some spectacular fireworks.
On Holden Beach, you can eat at Paradise Cafe, Castaways or Main Street Grill and walk outside to see fireworks in about every direction. The deck at Provision Co is also a popular spot. At Ocean Isle Beach, Second Street Bar and Grill is a good spot to watch. They have tables with umbrellas outside and the park across the street.
Bourbon Street at Ocean Isle is open for lunch today, but will be closed tonight. You might want to plan dinner tomorrow night at Bourbon Street. Monday is “Blues and BBQ” night.
So, go out and enjoy, both the fireworks and the some good food.
