July 4th Celebration – Southport, NC continues today
Fireworks tonight, July 5 at 9pm.
Southport NC 3 day celebration of July 4th continues all day to day culminating with a large fireworks display tonight at 9pm over the waterfront at Southport.
Every where you look Southport is decked out in its patriotic finest. Several events are happening through out the day simultaneously.
10 am to 4 pm: 20th NC Co K War Between The States Re-enactors: This 20th NC company K state troops are a reenactment unit that portrays the life and times of our ancestors during the 1860’s. They travel around the East Coast participating in historical reenactments, living histories for area school children and general public, holding memorial services to honor men who fought in the War between the States. The unit consists of folks from Columbus, Bladen, Brunswick, New Hanover, and Onslow counties. We have been reenacting together as a unit for five years. – Capt. Mark A. Lewis.
